Yesterday I installed my new muffler. It went pretty smooth, got it on, bolted and clamped it. Only to later realize that is makes just the slightest contact with the drive shaft. I measured the muffler and compared it to my old one and it didn't make sense. Until I looked in my manual and saw that I had the muffler upside down. That is, the offset inlet was on the wrong side, it was on the exterior side when it should have been on the interior side of the muffler.

Once I got out of work today I started removing the pieces which was fairly challenging. I ended up splitting the old rusty tail pipe where it goes vertical to get over the axle. There isn't much room between the bends in this part of the pipe so I don't think I can cut and repair it with straight tubing.

This is the first car I've really worked on and I'm not sure what to do. It doesn't look like I can get a replacement easily online. Can I bring this to a muffler shop and see if they can bend me a new pipe? Is my only option to repair it? I can post a picture of it if repairing it seems to be the way to go.

Feeling pretty defeated after all this work and making a crippling mistake.

It depends on the muffler shop, some just cut a muffler out and install a muffler, others prefer to just order a prebent tube for the car ($$$). If it's a full service exhaust shop they can properly bend the pipe and install what is needed (or upgrade if you have a stock noodle pipe).

Almost any muffler shop around me would do it. Pretty easy job for them.

The cat to the tip is removed so I don't think my car will be going anywhere. Only the noodle pipe is still attached to the muffler and if I can get a new one I could remove by cutting it. The muffler is new and fine but has a 2" outlet which seems to be limiting when looking for "universal" pipes. Not sure how good of an idea that is. This one looks similar but there is no way to tell if it'll fit right!

What do you mean by an upgrade, just a bigger size?

I have a tail pipe with a muffler attached.
I also have the noodle from the manifold down to where the muffler hooks up.

These could potentially be at Woodburn Dragstrip this Saturday if you would like to pick them up.

Let me know if you will pick them up. I won't load them otherwise. Space is limited.
