so i got this pressure plate from a board member a while back and finally put it in. i thought i had the disc in backwards so i pulled the tranny to find this.

so now my question is how important are they? can i leave it alone. i cant get it out. the one on the bottom was pushed through some how and the ones that are missing didnt come with it. the pressure plate i took out originally didnt have any in it.

For the price of a new PP and disc I would start over. If your clutch lets loose it can cause a lot of damage.

OK.

But there are obviously things wrong here. If this was mine I would either start over or take the whole package to a driveline place and see what they can salvage.

Im pretty big on do it yourself but a clutch that is even a little unbalanced will never work very well and likely chatter.

Clutch chatter will wreck ujoints ,engine mounts , trans linkage, and any confidence you have in the car.

Taking a pressure plate apart at home is a risky endeavour.

When I first got the Valaint there were some chattering clutch issues. When I took it all apart the inside of the bell showed signs of a fairly significant clutch incident....pretty sobering. I replaced everything.

I don't see what is causing you concern. Those little discs? Were they there before and maybe you just noticed them? Please explain.

Thanks,

Lou
