This steel plate/gasket between the starter and 904 auto seem to have an incorrect shape. Is it originally intended for another Mopar engine, and if so - which one?

I have one of those...it's a remnant from my wild youth...it was the starter plate for a big block to 727....I think the small blocks to 727 are similar as well.

Sure wrecked the crap out of that car....
Put down a couple of Fords doing it too....

Hi DusterIdiot, thank you. You don't happen to have a picture of an original plate for a SL6/904?

My other SL6 engine is kept elsewhere, and besides, that is a truck engine with an original 727. My V8s are also kept at the same location, but I don't remember any details about the plates on them.

I assume that the plate should follow the outline of the gearbox. I have some stainless steel sheets, so I have already made a pattern for a new one, but I would like to have it confirmed.

I have one on my Dart, and should be replacing the starter this weekend. I will snap a picture for you.

I packed all my spare plates away for storage so I won't be able to take a pic, hopefully Danarchy will get a good one.

Not the best picture, but the plate covers all but a tiny spot that the starter does cover. Hope this helps.-Dan

That looks correct for the /6 in the high starter position.

Thank you, Dan.
That is how I envisioned it to be; just following the outline of the transmission. I'll start cutting into some fresh steel, and because it is for a mini-starter, I think I'll add the missing parts too, to make it cover all openings. I'll post a picture later, along with the finished pattern 1:1 so others can download it.
