74 dodge Dart 225 auto, reman carb from rock auto , plugs, wires, cap and button running but still a miss pulled valve cover to find bent rod, pulled it apart pulled head replaced rod and all gaskets fresh fluids go to start it and no go only way she will start and run is if I lightly sit there and pump the gas. I am unsure of what to try now I went through and checked all vacuum lines all to no avail I just want to get her running and I know I am so close now just don't know what to do now so any help and suggestions would be great. Could it be a timing issue since distributer was pulled? Not sure if I set it up right but I lined timing marks to TDC and put distributer in with button pointing to number one cylinder.

Did you lash valves with hot and running engine? In my case that was the difference between "dying in idle, or setting idle at 1300 RPM" and "smooth operation". Recomended lash is 0.01" intake and 0.02" exhaust, I went overboard (0.012" and 0.024", truck setting) and I saw a huge improvement in the idle (smooth at 650 RPM)
