I'm just about finished with getting my Belvedere back on the road but I still have yet another strange question.

I think I'm missing a part that connects the speedometer cable to the 3-speed transmission. I found a wire tie hanging on the cable that I believe I had attached some sort of bracket as not to lose it...that worked well. The only problem is that I can't remember what it looked like and how it attached. Below is a "professional" drawing of the area on the transmission where the cable and gear go into one hole and a bolt goes in another. I am guessing that there was a bracket there that fit over the cable gear and was held in by the bolt.

Can anyone confirm this and perhaps take a pic of this area of their transmission? If I know what the bracket looks like, I can fabricate my own.

Thanks.

You should have a round housing to go into the tranny, and a "claw' that holds the housing in place and in some cases are indexed based on tooth count.
