as per my other post, i am having some slippage problems with the 9 1/4 inch clutch.
it seems to me that they also used a 10" clutch on some applications.
my question is, can i use a 10 inch on the same flywheel, or is it a different flywheel. it seems to have enough room on the flywheel foe a 10" diameter disc.
also what is the application from the factory for the 10" clutch, so i can order parts.

10" clutch you can order as a standard clutch for a 1981 Dodge Truck with the A-833OD 4 speed. They use the same flywheel and mounting holes, but use a bolt with a setback head, if you use the standard bolts, you will need to check the clearance with the bellhousing as the heads may contact the inside of the bellhousing.

The only clutch that will be different is the 11" clutch for use with the NP-435 equipped trucks (no car applications).

Just be aware that the 10" borg and beck clutch will work fine for daily driving and some hauling, multiple people have had these Frag after power launches, so no aggressive sports driving or drag racing if you value walking.

so is what you are saying is that the 10" is worse than the 9 1/4 that i currently have? i was hoping that it would be an improvment.

It will definitely have more holding power, but if you do high RPM clutch dumps on the dragstrip it can come apart and tear things up. I ran one for 2 yrs in my 14 sec 64 Dart w/T5 and no problems. It sounds like yours is more of a cruiser, so you will probably be fine.

http://www.slantsix.org/articles/clutch ... utches.htm

We have used the B&B 10 inch pressure plate & disc with good success... on street vehicles but be sure to inspect them closely for cracks around the mounting holes...
And use the correct bolts as noted above. (standard hex head bolts will rub on the edge of the friction disc, causing drag)

get this, i ordered a 10" kit from napa. i checked it out after getting home, and found the correct preassure assy, but a 9 1/4" disc. thinking they made a packaging mistake, i took it back, and was told that this is the way they do it now. that with the more powerful preassure assy, and the smaller disc, that there would be more psi in the smaller disc improving the grip? i told them that i don't buy that explaination. got a refund, and i have ordered one from advance auto. hope that one is correct.
btw, the napa one was 50. more, even with my 50% discount!!!! almost $200.

"10" clutch you can order as a standard clutch for a 1981 Dodge Truck with the A-833OD 4 speed."

Im hoping it all works out and make sure you post your findings and what you have done.

I wonder because I have an 84 d150 w the 833 so Im not sure what is under there. If I can just order the larger one for the 81 to go in my 84 then that is how I will go once the clutch needs done, if i dont use a 904 instead.

Trucks come standard with the 10" clutch unless NP435 equipped, the 9 1/4" would work but not very well with that much weight to have to haul around.

That's why I'm kinda curious as to what is under there. When looking up an 81 you can get the 10", when looking up my 84 it only shows getting 9.25. Both /6 833. But like I said I'll prolly go 904 since the hx35 will be going in.

that's a database error...happens way to often...similar to the issue of the NP-435 guys and their flywheel....there are 2 versions of this with different ring gear counts....the early one uses the 9 tooth direct drive starter (some examples used through the 70's), starting in the early 70's the tooth count went to 143 and the regular starter was used.... Oddly when ordering replacement ring gears ATP is all over the place on what was used when....
