Post subject:  Timing Chain Removal Help

I have bent 4 screw drivers, broke an index finger, and am about to turn into the hulk over this timing chain. I can't get it off for the life of me. Someone please help...

Have you tried taking the bolt out of the camshaft sprocket and removing the sprocket ?

Thats what I tried to do, but the cam keeps moving with it... and when I jam something in there to keep the cam from moving the sprocket wont come loose.

I've had that happen...a few times...

Loosen the cam bolt...pull the cam gear forward...insert a couple of spacers behind the cam gear that will bear on the block (2 pieces of wood, 2 large screw drivers). Push the cam gear firmly onto the spacers, remove cam bolt, install old head bolt...use BFH to smack installed head bolt to drive the cam backward, the spacers will keep the gear from falling back with the camshaft....).

Just be sure to not smack it too hard with your BFH- would hate to bump out the cam plug at the back of the block.
