I bought a '77 Dodge D100 with a regular cab/stepside 2wd and a slant six/3 on the tree combo last week. I've heard that the slant sixes are pretty much a bulletproof and strong engine, and with the right modifications, can produce some impressive power. I'm taking the truck on the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2014 and want to squeeze some more power out of it. It's stock as can be at the moment (the previous guy changed the plugs but that's as far as it goes). Can anyone tell me which route I can take to make some better power out of it that won't kill the fuel mileage and won't break the bank either?
Thank you!
-Brodie

2 1/4 inch exhaust all the way back, fine tune your distributor timing advance curve, mill the head and/or block to achieve true 8:1 dynamic compression ratio, do the HEI ignition swap with the Ford e-core coil, rig up a true cold air induction system with the stock air cleaner, run synthetic 5W-30 oil.
