is the 65 dart windshield the same? if not are there any other cars that have the same windshield?

Yes, 63-66 Dart, Valiant, Barracuda use the same windshield. I am not totally sure that convertibles are the same, but at least all 2dr and 4dr sedans and hdtops are the same.

Hollanders agrees all models 63-66 Dart, Valiant, Barracuda are interchangeable for windsheild.

cool beans. thank you. you can see in my sig pic that my windshield is hazing pretty bad. it drives me crazy and there are a couple darts getting parted out around here. anyone know where to get the gasket? im gonna try and save the one i have but just in case.

Both windshields and gaskets are available brand new in Australia for that car.

The last windshield I got was only about $190. Tinted band, laminated glass. About 2 years ago.

The US dollar and Aussie are still very similar at the moment.

I bought the new gasket from year one and had that on hand. In the days when these cars were mainstream there was a dam set around the windshield on the outside, up against the gasket, that helped keep water away from the gasket. I think it was a self adhesive butyl rubber, sticky on one side only. This is no longer made, and present day installers do not know about its existence. I only know because the old guy who did my windshield knew about them.

I would recommend you get trim clips and have them on hand, as many of them will be rusted away. Have you had the trim off your car?

no, there is no trim around the windows just the rubber gasket, i have the bare bones valiant 100.

butyl rubber is still made by 3M and is called "ribbon seal." I saw some at o'reilly's last night.

Junior, Can you post a close up photo of your windshield showing where the gasket comes in contact with the body? If there is not trim, there is no place for the butyl rubber dam. It goes under the trim. Your set up is probably tighter.

There would be no dam with that design, but they should put liquid butyl sealant in the gasket slots on both the body side, and the glass side.

All A-bodies should have some windshield trim in place as it protects the gasket. I'll bet when he pulls the glass and gasket he'll find the screwheads for the trim clips. The only year A-bodies didn't have this was 1967 in which mopar went to a chrome/plastic trim that was installed in a pocket in the gasket itself (no replacements made now and the plastic is brittle when it is removed, so 1967 owners get to install clips and make their '67 like the 1968+ cars).

The quality places now use a new non-hardening sealant between the body and the gasket, so it remains 'pliable' to prevent leaks if the new gasket (like many aftermarket gaskets) fails to do it's job or shrinks after a few years of weather.

You may also have to shop around, I've had my glass done at a little place in town that is a 2nd gen shop (original owner's son) and is used to old cars...the big corporate places can't guarantee the installation won't leak so they will shun Mopar A/B/E/F/etc. bodies.

Interesting. DI is the authority on such issues. The gutter around my windshield is much larger that what can be seen on yours. There is a big place for said dam. Keep in mind my info comes from an old windshield guy who may not be the authority that DI is. Seriously. So now you have the question of whether or not to put the trim on. If it were me, I would look for the trim and clips before continuing.

DI, do you have information on interchangeability of the trim on the windshields?
