When switching from 12 to 134a do you charge the same amount of gas back into
The system? My volare calls for 42 oz of r12.

I was going to charge it with the same amount of 134a..
Would this cause any problems?

Thanks Greg [/b]

AC systems should be charged by temperature and pressure readings, especially if converting from R12 to 134A. Most conversions of this nature involve modified parts, different valves, etc. and can be a real hit and miss.
You cannot guaranty results by weight alone.
As a side note, what oil are you using in your conversion?

Well it took about 19 oz of 134a.

I replaced the c171 compressor due to a crankshaft seal leak that would
loose a full charge of r12 after a few months.

I used ester oil and. After getting to about 20 psi. On the low and 220 psi
On the high side and forty degrees of duct temp 19 ounces worked well
