I am decoding my budys vin for him and end up finding the engine code listed as a special order L6. Is that just because it has the super six set up or something else? |

Typically special order means that it either is an option not available in that particular "package/platform" (some C-bodies had a base engine of a 318, but someone checked the box that they wanted a 225 instead-usually in ordering cars for a 'fleet'...also pertains to V-8's where a particular car might be limited to certain big blocks but someone ordered the Polara with an 440HP), or it is part of a taxi/police package. VIN tag information helps in figuring out this info. I used a beat up 1969 Fury I in a demo derby a long time back, it's VIN coded to "special order six", the car was beatup and someone bolted a 383/727 into the car (driver's side motor mount looked OK...passenger side was held to the K-member with a loop of 3/8" chain...so the previous owner blew up the 225/904 and didn't change the K...LOL) -D.Idiot |
