Post subject:  Setting up a working choke...

I recently bought this thermostatic choke off ebay and put it on my truck Saturday...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121002298155?ss ... 1497.l2649

Looks like it's going to work out OK :) ! I noticed when i rebuilt the carb that the linkage for the fast idle cam was bent straight i think on my model 1920 #6260 it's suppose to have a curve in it. Don't know how much this affects setting the fast idle cam screw but it seems to be working OK

I don't have the electrical wire connected at this time...Aggressive Ted said that it helps the thermostatic spring heat up faster but it's not neccessary and he runs his without it.

I don't have a RPM gauge right now so i don't know what my fast idle and curb idle are but later on i will add that to help dial it in better...

I have the fast idle cam set screw set on the top curve part of the fast idle cam and when it comes down to curb idle it stops at the highest step on the cam...i'm not sure if that's how it's suppose to work but it works :D and what i noticed is that when the motor cools down and i press down on the gas pedal 1 time the fast idle cam resets itself to the beginning fast idle mark. After i put the choke on i was wondering how it reset itself and after letting it cool down i just happened to pull back on the throttle and you can hear it click back into the original choke position...which is cool

Anyways here are some pic's of the choke setup
