After ten years of doing nothing on my project I am finally ready to get it going.

Vehicle: 1975 D100, Utiline, Slant, 727, no A/c

It was parked when the old 1 barrel bite the dust. Decided to upgrade to the Super Six and that where the problems began.

But not going to go into the gory details. Just know that broken bolts, unheated garage, money and children have delayed the project.

I have read a multitude of articles on how to restart a vehicle that has been sitting. So I am ready with new fluids, belts, etc.

My question is ...
How long is a rebuilt carb good for, if it has never had fuel run through it?
I rebuilt the BBD ten years ago, mounted it to the Super six intake and that is where it has sat.

Thanks

I'd run it. I have bought 10-year-old rebuild kits off of ebay and used them with no ill effects. The accel pump diaphragm is likely shrunk, but once fuel gets in the carb it will probably start working again.

Go for it, I bought a NOS BBD here in Australia, it was actually for a hemi 6 engine, I have no idea of the extent of the "old" in NOS but it had to be at least 20 years old.... Long story but I fitted it straight onto a slant six and its just fine. Had a very minor weep from the bowl gasket but after it ran for a while and retightening screws its perfect. Good luck with your project! I know what it's like when life gets in the way of projects, great to hear stories of people getting back into it!!
