| Post subject: | carter bbd rebuild question |
i recently took apart a bbd to clean and put back together and it turns out the plastic metering rod arm broke and i lost both the pump "s" link and the metering jets. pretty smooth. after looking through the manuals and comparing parts it seems like this carb was rebuilt before anyway as the metering rods are from a different carb according the manuals. the tag on my carb read 8136S. i'm guessing these are still good to use--they are 0.068 x 0.057 where the ones the manual says should be here are 0.0665 x 0.056, 0.0675 x 0.057 and 0.0675 x 0.055. the main jets on the other hand are supposed to be 0.86, but with the rods i have already from what could be another carb, the ones i found had jets for either 0.086 or 0.092. i've read opinions that 0.089 is the way to go, but i am putting in a comp k64-241-4 kit and plan to eventually get a dutra dual set up and possibly some head milling, so would i be limiting myself in power if i stuck with the 0.089 jets, or would it be worth a shot to check the 0.090 or even 0.092 jets to see if they work well? i'm not looking for top fuel economy, but i don't want to starve because my car drinks too much gas. |
