My car that I'm racing while the Duster is getting re-done is a '66 Valiant. I have the engine/trans out of the Duster in the 66 now.

The major changes are a 3000 stall converter from Midwest in Rockford, IL, and a 3.55 8.75 with Moser axles. This car weighs right around 3200# and has run a best of 14:81@90mph. It has 15" Weld Stars for wheels, and looks pretty decent for an old beater car. :D The 66 has been a multi-time class winner at RT66 in Joliet, IL, and finished 2nd in points.

Sponsorship is still provided by Jeff Long at Jeff's Custom Exhaust in Paxton, IL. (Proud sponsor of 3 Slant Six races) :D :D

For those keeping score at home, that picture was taken at Clay City this summer. I ran Charles in the first round and sent him back to the trailer. (Got really lucky and had him go RED for me.) Thanks Doug! :D

Just a quick update, I have started spraying a 150 shot on the red car. It has gone a best of 12:48@105 now. It is still streetable if I put exhaust back on it.

This is ammo for a "You might be a........"

I'll leave it to Possum to finish that one up though. It aint really my place.

Car is still licensed and insured, and on street tires.

It went 12:30@107 yesterday. I also have an appointment to get exhaust put back on the week after St. Louis. It will be in full street trim when I race Possum at Indy in October. (and run an 11 second pass)

Schweeeet! I wish I could be there to see that!

Don't go blowin' nuthin' up trying for that 11 second pass!

Ole Possum would never let you live that one down.

You're planning on going from a 12.30 to 11.99 or quicker even after you put full exhaust on it!?

Goodness Gracious! Got More Juice!? :D

Be sure and post results. Definitely the fastest Slant 6 Street Car in the U.S.!

You Da Man.

Carefull, Dennis. I got greedy, trying to go from a 8. 26 to a 7.99 eigth mile, and it cost me a motor.

Thanks guys! I am definitely planning on jumping into the 11's, but I will do it with weather conditions and gear. I am going to put the 3.91's back in it. I only have 3.55's now.

Weather was in the mid 80's and the humidity was terrible. I know there are at least 2 tenths in weather alone. :D

Now come on you guys!

'Zilla's car would qualify for any of the other "Street Car" challenges we all know and love. He could do the 20 mile cruise and race without opening the hood I'm sure. Isn't that pretty much what qualifies?

I have just about all of the "Orlando World 'Street' Nationals" videos and those "Street Cars" sure aint no every day grocery getters!

You go 'Zilla!

Lou, you know I've driven many, many, miles to drag race. However, when I have a car set on high kill, the risk of exploding something is just too great. Besides, 2 years ago I lost a good motor and a stock motor in the span of 3 weeks without the aid of spray. No more driving to the track for me.

If you'd like to make a street circuit drive I would do that. :D

Rob is right. My street car pushes the limits, but it is a lot closer than most any of the "street" cars at the World Finals.

One thing you guys have to remember. My hope is that others will see just how easy it is to build a fast Slant street car for not too much $$$$, and then do it themselves.

You should find a powerdyne like Dales and do a comparison between the two.
150 shot vs 6-8# of boost.

I think I might have a line on a $500 Vortex....hhmm.

Rob - you know those cars are not street cars!!!!

Just can't resist ribbin' ya, Dennis. Your efforts are impressive and much appreciated, believe me.

I still see a distinction, but I agree that your car can function on the street on "low kill" just fine. Feel free to rib me when I drive 8 hrs to a race and blow up my engine...

You're definitely MUCH closer than most "street car" competition rules allow, which are mostly ridiculous.

I'm interested to see how Seymour does at this week-long street car race in his white car. No support vehicles, carry any parts you need, race 7 days and drive over 1000 miles total in between the tracks.

Lou
