I am thinking of buying a HUD for my 62' Signet, the type that projects the speed onto the windscreen.

Any thoughts / ideas about the usefulness of a HUD.

Thanks,

Peter

Any thoughts
Yup, you asked; my 2 cents…
It’s a waste of money and time for something you will probably find to be very annoying and distracting after a few weeks of living with it; if the readout is digital, than will be doubly annoying.

Not a fan of digital readouts in cars.

so, you have everything else Perfect?(Brakes, Engine, Transmission, No Rust or Body work to be done?...) I would forget the HUD and get you a team and go with telemetry!

really, you should do what you want.

You need either special glass or a sticker of basically window tint or something to properly reflect the light from the HUD. Its not really worth the time in my opinion, and it sort of ruins the old swagger of these cars.

I think it would be a distraction, being so different in appearance from the things on the other side of the windshield that I need to watch carefully.

I had an android GPS app that could be set up to have your speed reflect off the window........

Try something like that first........

I've had a couple Ponchos with it and I loved it.How it would work with the less slanted windshield I don't know.

Good idea BUT. I have one in my driving school car. It works for me as I cant see the Speedo from the passenger's seat. Most learners find it distracting though. I too have an android app and use that in my old cars. It doesn't distract from the car's originality, and also we are in klms not miles do I get an accurate metric readout.. Again, just my opinion.
