Post subject:  copper intake/exhaust gasket

Any thoughts on this copper gasket that has surfaced on a certain auction site? If manifolds and head are true is there any benefit over the oe style steel shim gasket. Thanks

I wonder if they're reusable like the v8 copper gaskets.

One of our members here (CNC-dude) had them made. They should be re-usable? But I'm not sure if anyone has installed them yet.

Thanks for the reply guys,
I think I made a mistake and installed a felpro intake gasket. Should have gone with the remflex to begin with. Everything was square and flat on assembly but I don't like the way the gasket has creased and bunched up from the manifolds moving back and forth. I think I will give this copper gasket a try.

Not to sound like a jerk, but did you install it backwards?

Yes Rick and all, they are re-useable plus they also have larger ports for those that use ported heads, while many other aftermarket gaskets only have the stock size port openings in them. I've sold several to guys on here and they seem to be pleased with both its quality and function.

No not at all, have made bigger mistakes but I do think its not the best quality gasket to use in this application. I seem to remember it was marked indicating what was head-side so I am pretty sure it is installed how felpro intended. If you look close enough you can see how the gasket is stretched from the thermal expansion and how it is bunched back from the cool down. Kinda looks like an accordion in spots. Anyway, I think I will try the copper one next. All the studs and attaching hardware is new so it should come apart easily.
