| Post subject: | Headliner replacement |
I'm looking to put a headliner in the car, previous owner had yanked everything already. As such, I have no bows.. and it seems pretty hard to track them down. I then saw a post regarding the new ABS backed headliners as opposed to the old cardboard and cloth. Someone mentioned its easier than finding the bows. Can anyone confirm that the ABS backed headliners do not need the bows? Anyone have an install guide for these ABS backed ones? Do they just glue in? |

The cardboard ones did not use bows. My guess is if there is an ABS one, it did not use bows either, and is more than likely patterned after the cardboard ones. Who makes the ABS one? Can you provide us with a link to see it on line somewhere? Sam |

I'm pretty sure the factory used the cloth and bows headliner until around '74 when the switched to the cardboard headliner. I've never heard of an ABS one until now, but I'll agree with Sam that is was probably patterned off the cardboard unit. |

The ABS backed ones can be found on various sites as replacement, as well as ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-1976-Dodge ... c9&vxp=mtr http://www.jimsautoparts.com/headliners.htm Just found the jim's site and it described them as screwing into place. Wonder where they screw into? I guess i answered my own question though with the extra searching. |

I have an ABS headliner for my duster. Haven't installed it yet, but it is patterned from the cardboard one. The install sheet instructs to use the rearview mirror and sunvisor mounts to keep it in place in the front, and to then use several small clips (that are supplied) on the sides of the headliner. Will let you know when I get to it. Brian |

Awesome. Thanks for that.
