59k original miles on car, stock ball/trunion in front with cracked rubber boot, old Ujoint in back. I think i should replace the 2 joints for a 6,000 mile trip this summer don't you? what's the lowest budget way to get rid of the ball/trunion unit? I'll be having the local shop press on new Ujoints, maybe I should find a later model driveshaft and yoke for them to do? whatcha think |

If the B&T is well lubed (check grease and maybe smear more in there, then install makeshift seal - like thick plastic with zip ties), then it should be good for 150k miles. I'd say if it has no slop, then don't worry about it for your trip. Lou |

| Post subject: | Why Replace? |
Would not consider ditching my B&T as long as Nappa can supply me I don't see the reason. Have on average gotten over 6yrs of service out of the replacement parts, same can't be said of u-joints, not to mention they have a higher tourque rating, Just keep them lubed. |
