This is paranoid Sam writing. I have the new extetnal filter, trans cooler, and thermostat mounted and plumbed. I tried to be careful to blow out the new lines, but worry some debris may have defeated my efforts and stayed in there. When the fluid returns from the cooler does it go through the trans internal filter first before intering the trans internals? If yes, then I guess I can assume any stray bits will get stpped there.

I designed the flow so the external filter is the first thing fluid passes through after leaving the trans. I am wondering if maybe it should be the last in line before re-entering the trans. I would only have to swap one connection at this point to accomplish that change. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

simple ....leave line off before it enters transmission , start engine , tilll fluid comes out line into container.....shut off , connect line , start ,check trans fluid level ....drive it

yes fluid goes thru inside filter before trans

The filter inside the transmission is a suction filter only.

If you are worried about metallic debris, throw a small magnet in the pan before you bolt it back up.

heck toss one in there even if you arent worried about it .. it cant hurt in any way..

Also If you run an eternal filter Zip tying a magnet too the outside of the filter there will hold some more metallic debris from getting pumped around.
