Typically in the 60's mopar just had 2 bellhousings one for the 3 spd, and one for the 4 spd...by the 70's the bean counters started to nix the two components and in 1975 the OD bellhousing had patterns for both the A-230 and A-833OD....If you get lucky (sometimes trucks got dual pattern bells), you might have 2 patterns, but with the era the A-903 came from most likely not...with a little welding and some drilling (and you'll have to index the retainer and hole) you might be able to reconfigure it for your swap. As an FYI, I have 2 1973-1974 A-230 bellhousings and they only have holes for the A-230. -D.Idiot |

Thanks, D. I didn't think so, but it was worth checking. I want to keep with the earliest a-body componentry so that I don't have to monkey around with the driveshaft. Already, with cutting the transmission tunnel and needing a shifter, rods and associated hardware, the costs start spiraling. And, not having access to the rights tools and facility, it's not something that I can do on my own. That said -- anyone got an early bellhousing for sale?? Thanks again -- R |
