I searched "H1C" and came up with a few threads but I didnt see that anyone actually HAD one on their motor. I read that they would be a good choice but I know little of turbos and would like to know. I mentioned to a friend of mi e that I would like to build a slant for boost and he said that he has an H1C with a 12cm turbine housing for faster spool. Said it has no shaft play and all seals seem to be good and would sell it to me for $200. |

If I remember correctly, the h1c and hx35 are quite similar. I plan on running a hx35 on mine when I get it all back together. Its a good size turbo, I'd just on the deal man. |

I think I shall. If anything, I can always re-sell it if I dont end up using it. And stock slants are basically boost-ready arent they? I mean as far as reliability and the factory low compression? Is there anything that is recommended that I go through or upgrade for boost as far as the engine itself? |

What's your plan for it? Low boost you can run it stock internals. Super Six intake and a decent sized carb are a must. You could use a Holley 500cfm and set it up through blow through. |

H1c / hx35 are a great starter turbo . Decent spool up and power . Anything over 18psi it runs out of air from my experience on the slant |

I think the H1C/HX30 size is deceptive. There are 3.4L BMW M30 (12V big six) guys running the HX40 to get enough flow. The diesels like mine (12V Cummins aka BTA 5.9) don't flow all that much air through the head so the pressure ratio is high. With a decent gas engine you can run off the compressor map to the right. |

I just want to have a fun and unique truck. It is going to be a show truck as well so I want the setup to look clean as hell. I want enough power that will surprise people when I can whoop some ass or at least hang with them and tell them its "just a slant six" but I dont need an 11-sec truck either. I do have a Super Six setup that I was going to install on my N/A engine but I can always find another. Is the 2bbl sufficient for a turbo setup or would a 4bbl be a better choice? |

My bad I was thinking wh1c . The h1c is slow spooling for no more air than it flows . Wh1c / hx35 would be better |

So is this the carb I would need for my Super Six intake? And just mod it for blow-thru? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-0 ... 7AodIW4ABg |

I am NO EXPERT (far from it!!!) but I would think that the 2300 500cfm you are suggesting would be perfrct for a low-boost (say, 10-pounds) turbo application like yours. My opinion id tht a 4-bbl isn't necessary and adds unnecessary complication to the tuning phase. Just MY opinion, though... Bill |
