Hey all, I'm new to a boosted car (used to have an '87 Grand National but I just drove the car, never tweaked it or anything) and to be honest, it's not a car at all...it's a 1977 Dodge D100 2WD reg cab/stepside with a 225/3spd manual. I wanted to keep the 225 instead of doing a V8 swap, but reading what I have about turbo'ing the slant, it seems pretty straight forward...and I know a lot of people that have boosted vehicles before and know what they're doing. Now, my plans...I already purchased a AiResearch Garrett T04 from an '87 GN with 30-40k on the turbo. It's incomplete and need to buy a wastegate and exhaust elbow to run the exhaust off the turbo, but I can get those anywhere on the Turbo Buick forums. I was going to make a mild boosted truck with a completely stock engine (10psi at most), but I watched a lot of videos of cars doing 11-12 second runs and I thought it would be fun to have a 12-second truck at the strips, but a reliable and economical setup to just jump in and cruise. Since it's probably not a good idea to run a completely stock engine past 10psi and I'll never get in the 12's with 10psi, what would I have to upgrade to run between 15-20psi of boost? The setup must be clean because the truck will be a show truck when I can get the money to restore it. I more or less need to be told what parts to get for the build, like basically a list that I can buy the parts and cross them off as I go. I know I need to get a Holley 2300 500cfm 2bbl carb and mod it for blow thru setup, and I already have plans for an intercooler. Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Brodie |
