I know this is a dumb question, I'm sure I already know the answer, just hoping I'm wrong lol Can you have a slant head machined down without removing the valves and disassembling ? |

I have had it done too. Make sure to clean it very thoroughly before installing. |

You will need to remove the lower set of intake/exhaust manifold studs. If you don't, your machinest will be unhappy. His cutter will hit the studs if they are still in the head. |

Just pulled the head off the slant that came in my '70 duster. Guy said some messed up installing a new timing chain. I'd say so. Five bent push rods... |

Ok cool... I probably will. Still deciding what I want to do. Waiting to get the car painted. Trying not to spend money until the paint is down lol. Holding off machine work. |

I have some stock push rods also. I also have a few extra pistons and rods. I am hesitant to get rid of them yet as I have another slant rebuild. Although I have not decided if I am just going to replace it yet. |

You are well advised to dis-assemble this head and check for bent valves . Valves can also get bent when they hit pistons hard enough to bend the pushrods. DD |

I'd finish the motor before it goes to paint. Don't want to drop that heavy head on new paint. |

what Slantzilla said! I did all the bodywork and paint on my Dart, then had to rebuild the head. Even with special care, the paint still got nicked |
