I have a Schneider reground cam, its nice but I want more than what 264 gives. So can one be reground larger? Or would it cut to deep into the base circle? I want to step up to their 284 grind... Thanks! |

My guess is it would depend on how far they ground down the base circle when they did it last time. If there is still enough meat there they may be able to go again. |

I would think, it would cost the same, whether regrinding that cam or a stock cam. Why not just send out another stock core, and keep the 264 as is. |

Yep, it will depend on how far they ground it, if it was a mild 250 duration cam, it probably wouldn't be a problem, higher duration they may need a new/untouched blank for the larger duration...cost should be the same for grind services You should also note that more duration will = higher rpm to get the same power you got with your current setup...and...the overlap will increase bleeding down the cylinder pressure requiring more compression to compensate...with higher duration comes higher lift as well so O/S valves will be desired to make the most out of the port flow... I currently have a similar stick in a 9.66:1 SCR cast crank engine with a stock head and port/bowl work (cam is 284/284 based on the old chrysler 300 camshaft profile)...it gets 13" of vaccuum at 1200 rpm idle (goes to 16 at 2500 rpm!), and is doggy down low...next time I'll up the compression to 11:1 and see what improves.... |

Thanks guys, much appreciated! As far as lift, well their 284 grind has the same lift as the 264...but I can see how it would have to be cut down to make it "wider". I would rather just grind another cam, but I don't have one...anybody have one lying around they wanna part with D.I., I just put in some 3.91s...rpms are up a bit. hehe. |
