| Post subject: | Dodge 2.2/2.5 dished pistons? |
Hi all, I am looking for 2.2/2.5 pistons with the deep dish reliefs. I am currently planning on an engine rebuild for my turbo Duster, and I plan on using the K1/Molnar rods. I want to keep the compression ration below 9-1. I read Doc's article identifying the KB268 and Silvolite 1291H pistons for 2.2 engine. I have also come across a Sealed Power H579P piston for the 2.5 engine. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with this piston? Are there any other 2.2/2.5 engine pistons with the deep dish reliefs? Thanks, Brian |

There is a good selection of 2.2 / 2.5 pistons with many different compression heights & dish / domed tops so get to a catolog and do some "homework". One note is that the any valive relief on a 2.2 / 2.5 family piston, with an off-set pin, will Not be on the correct side for a SL6. Based on that, if you need valve notched for clearance, look for a piston with no pin off-set (forged) or a large dish or "D" dish. DD |

Be careful with 2.5 pistons as there are 2 different generations. Pick the wrong one and you will have a ton of positive deck height. |

I am running an 85 hydro motor with KB268 dished pistons- I think I ended up at about 8.1:1 compression with the piston pretty close to zero deck height and a 56cc combustion chamber |
