Post subject:  Trouble getting crank timing gear on

How do I press on the lower timing gear. Was a PAIN to get off and it's proving the same to press it back on. I don't want to smack it and I can't seem to find any kind of a tool to press it back on. Help!

Post subject:  Really Easy...

Need a propane torch or an oven, and some gloves....and a little patience...

Use the torch to heat up the gear for a few minutes on each side...or put the gear on a pan on the top rack of the oven and hit the broiler option....heat for 5 minutes on one side, then flip and heat for same amount...

Use a set of heavy leather gloves and slide the gear on the crankshaft making sure the timing "dot" is facing outward...

Never smack the gear on...it will drive the crank into the thrust bearing (#3) and kill it (if you have a clutch that bearing is very important...)

Same goes for the damper, you need a damper installer, heating wont work here (will destroy the rubber damper ring), and driving it on will require another thrust bearing replacement...
