So I'm trying to Change the belts on my 81 d150 and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to adjust the tension on the power steering pump. I don't see any slotted holes on any of the bolts holding it on. I could care less about my power steering but I would to keep it instead of just cutting the belt off. I mainly just want to replace my water pump/ alternator belt. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks |

There are two bolts on the pump bracket. One has the head facing the radiator, the other has the head facing the firewall. Loosen both of them. At the top front of the pump bracket there is a square hole. Use a 1/2 inch drive ratchet or breaker bar in this hole to tighten the pump belt. While holding the pump in a tightened position, tighten one or both of the bolts you loosened earlier. The upper bolt is the pivot and the lower bolt passes through a slot in the inner pump bracket. |
