i found on rock auto a REMAN CYLINDER HEAD FOR UNDER $300. IT says no smog. my 79 van was built with smog. but i removed all the emissions parts. my question is can i bolt the non smog head on with out having any problems or issues or no? i am assuming but can be wrong that the difference is the port in the back of the head where the tube from the air pump went.
Also none of the heads reman have new rockers i believe mine are shot. and rock auto only has one. i really want to do this job once and be comfortable with driving this van across country.

Yes, the head will bolt right on. The no smog issue most likely is referring to the air injection ports.

$300 is a pretty good price if shipping doesn't kill you.

I would stay clear of any re-condition head or engine assy, shortcuts are done with the recon process as an example knurling valve guides instead of replacing.

I would buy a used head and either go thru it yourself or have a competent machinest go thru it, you get what you pay for.
