Tomorrow will be three weeks since we bought "Andy's GT". Andy is my 17 year old son who fell in love with this 1967 Dodge Dart GT the minute he saw it. He bought it for $3,100 at an auction, with his own money he earned delivering newspapers and working at a pizza place. It is yellow w/ white buckets seats and factory air.

Yesterday we finally got all the bugs worked out and father and son enjoyed an uneventful thrilling 50 mile drive before he had to get ready for work.

From 1975 - 1980 I worked as a mechanic (mostly GM and Honda). I had a friend who had a 65 Dart and my roommate in college had a 64 Dart both with slant 6's...so I had worked on them but it had been years!

All that to say a big "THANK YOU!!!" to all of you who answered our posts and gave Dad the courage to get my hands dirty again. (I'm a pastor now...I only work one day a week  ) I can't believe how good it felt to put in a set of points for the first time in 20 years! Of course we may switch to electronic ignition as a person in my profession isn't allowed to have that much fun! ~Chuck aka: Andy's Dad

Congratulations on your successful project. Hope you guys have a ton of fun with it. Reminds me of when I was in my teens, delivering newspapers and saving up, then buying my '68 Dart 270... :)

Its great to see a father and son enjoying the hobby of old cars and I think that both partys learn alot more than just installing points  if you get my drift.I am looking forward to my son Timmys first slant project when he becomes of age.I think that these father and son projects(whether it be old cars or fishing or whatever)are somthing thats really lacking in todays world.Good luck with your sons dart.
