Have owned the car a long while and never known where the motor is located the top has ceased to open and close and while the motor still turns, I obviously need to do some work to it suggestions? |

It is usually behind the back seat between the seat and trunk. Just follow the lines from the shock on the convertible top frame . |

Chances are it's low on fluid (my 65 owners manual says to use ATF) |

Probably one or both hydraulic cylinders have a bad seal and are leaking fluid. With the top up follow down piston and feel for oil at lower end of cylinder. once you locate the leak replace the line or cylinder and refill & bleed system per FSM. A few places that have what you need, and help with hydraulics: http://www.hydroe.com/Tips_-_Cylinders__amp__Pumps.html http://store.convertibleparts.com/6071chrcyl.html In the mean time, if you want to operate the top, disconnect both cylinders where they connect to top irons, secure out of the way, and retract both rods into their cylinders. You will be able to manually lower and lift the top being carful to exert equal Armstrong force on each side of top to prevent any bending and binding of irons. |
