After several years work I have completed and run this Tunnel Ram. I got more then I expected. top end is now above my comfort zone. Carbs are 4412 Holleys. Headers were made to match intake tuning. Previously I ran a Offy 4bbl intake using an Eddy carb then a Holley. Both worked well but this thing now doesn't stop pulling from start to finishline.

There is video on Youtube, I forget what it is called. It was taken at the June 20 meet at Picton Airfield.
Even though I never had any fuel system problems with the 4 barrel once I got this dialed in the fuel system couldn't quite keep up to the fast rev rise in first even though it was fine in second and third. just before the shift it burbled on all runs that day. I since found the restriction and fixed it.
Next race is Sept 20. I also for reasons I don't understand did not load the engine against the converter. Old age is starting to catch me.
That said normally at the end of the run the engine is not really pulling and I have had no trouble driving. With the Tunnel Ram it pulls all the way and is still pulling as I approach the line. The first run it was going so fast I whimped out about 50 feet from the line and back off. After a good rest I told myself I should be able to hold it all the way to the finish line but whimped out about 10 feet from it. It is not a handling issue as the car runs like it was on rails. It is a driver issue. I am now going as fast as I ever want to go. How fast? I am not sure as we don't use times and MPH at Picton Airfield. I cant look at the tach at that speed but by sound it is near or at 6000. 29.5 tire, 3.91 gear and 3% converter slip. I should put a good driver in it and have him run it through but you know it doesn't matter to me. I am going as fast as I ever want to. I hope you can understand that.

When I went from the single four to the two barrels I needed a Tee to feed each. I couldn't find a 3/8 in 5/16 out inverted flare T so I slid a length of 5/16 tubing inside the 3/8 and soldered it. The holes in the Tee were quite small and not all the same I later found out so that combined with the restriction I had made presented a pretty good obstacle. Also I used as you can see two float bowls. One was a rear but I forgot that rear bowls have a different float level. About 1/8 lower. I wasn't overly concerned because the engine had never asked for more fuel then I could deliver before. Quite frankly I didn't expect the results I got. With the tunnel ram and the new header built to match It was able to use all I had coming in first gear just before the shift. It recovered on the shift and worked fine the rest of the way.
Times? If they have them next airport race I will post them but my days of going to our local track and waiting hours to make one or two runs , being shuffled from one staging lane to another, being told I cant run the 1/4 but have to shut down at the 1/8 and spring $80 to $100 for a couple of runs are OVER! Airfield racing is for fun. No stress and inexpensive. It is for me a different time in my life. I am nearing the point when I won't be able to do this any more. At the Airfield My old friends help me, watch I don't get too woozy in the bright sun and that I am ok to race. Might have 4 or 5 more race dates left in me.
All I will tell you is I run with the Chrome Moly V8 Altereds and am in the pack occasionally spanking them if they so much as sneeze. I also race a injected BB Chevy FED often . We have run 12 times I have won 5. And all racing there is heads up. Last race the Pairing guy at the top of the Hot lanes said no one would run me so I had to run alone. He was telling me a week ago at a cruise night he would point to me then them and they would shake their head. At this stage of my life that is good enough. He said one told him, If we beat him it is nothing as it is a six against an eight. If he beats us everyone makes fun of us and we don't like that.
Car will be featured I believe in the next issue of Chrysler Power mag with lots of photos. I will post another of the intake later
