I timed my slant on my valiant two years ago.
But its sold, and my 1965 Belverdere I just got.
I was looking around, and I don't see a timing scale to set my timing. Or am I mis undertanding something? 225 slant

1965 I would believe that it had a "Bolt-On" timing tab in the area marked by the arrow.

The tab looks like this.

I can't be sure due the the pix angle but I think it is there where the yaller arrow is pointing.... it's looks to be just filthy dirty. My '62's was like that; took a good cleaning; looks lke the one shown in the 2nd post.

I looked and looked at your 3rd photo and finally realized that black thing in the right area is the lower core support under the front pulley.....

My 170 slant doesn't have a timing tab either. My 225 does - they should all have them, correct?

I am going to take a look when I go in the garage later. I sure hope I have one, or can get one if not. I couldn't imagine not being able to set my timing..

Yes, you should have a timing indicator tab.

Ohhhh nooo!! I looked again. I honestly don't see a timing tab.
I did see a white mark on the pulley. Don't know what they were timing it with. I tried for a better photo. The passenger side is easy to see, there is nothing there at all. So I didn't take a photo, but I can.

Here's a better close up photo.

THIS THREAD may be of interest to you. Strat reading around the midlde of page 4. The poster discusses how to fabricate a timing tab for his slant six engine and even reveals how to measure the degrees to mark them on the new tab.

I just checked it.
Oh crap. I suck at fabricating. I was hoping to find a used one somewhere.
I know that sounds terrible, I don't know if I would get the markings right.
I am sure they are different, "year to year". I was right. Here's a better photo. It is not there!

Does anyone know what years fit the 1965 slant 225? Timing tab that is?
I am sure some years are different.

Just a wayward thought, but- if the engine seems to be running OK, why not go through the timing check process with a timing light, see where it flashes on the white pulley mark, then look in THAT area of the engine for the tab? Hmmm, would that really work...? (Go back to sleep, Pat. OK ) :?

I will need to adjust my valves, points...etc. So I figure the timing will need adjusted.
I am picking up my carb today, that was getting rebuilt. Hopefully that will fix the sputtering rich condition.
Thankfully, someone on this forum, "his father", has my timing tab. I should be getting it shortly.
In Danarchy's post to me on this thread, it sounds like the one he has pictured for me, the way it was explained over the phone.
