i know this is probably a dumb question but the person building my new engine said i need to bring him another rocker arm spacer. can someone show me how to take this off my other engine. help |

If you remove the valve cover and then the rocker shaft (which is attached to the shaft towers on the head by 7 bolts), the spacers and rocker arms will slide off the shaft. The only dumb questions are the ones you never learn the answers to because you didn't ask them. ---Red |

Well, since there are no stupid questions, let me ask one. My spacers have also worn to the point that the rockers move forward and aft. If I can locat some washers at a local fastner supply house (Tacoma Screw) to take up some of the slop, will this work? |

I might have some spares, will need to check in the mustie,dusties to be sure, will let you know. Sound as if your rocker assembly was as worn as mine, which might explain why two new assemblies were found in the trunk. Issue I would have with a washer spacer is, is it able to survive the forces it will be subject to? can you aquire the correct thickness and hardness? Perhaps a check of local yards will produce some useable spares. do not know if they are available new. Hope this helps. |
