Can anyone suggest a good muffler to use with the slant six? I'm thinking in terms of flowmasters, magnaflows, anything. I've heard some pretty bad things about glasspacks so if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated! If you could be very specific about size, model, pipe size etc. that would also be appreciated! Thanks.

The Walker Dynomax Super Turbo is always at or near the top of any muffler test I have seen and they are one of the most resonably priced performance mufflers available. It is also one of the quietest too.

FWIW, the Magnaflow, Dynomax Ultraflow and a bunch of others are nothing more than a glass pak with a larger case. The only real down side to a glass pak is they are louder and becuase they have less packing material it burns out quicker and they get even louder over time. For a given tube diamater they flow the same as the more expensive straight thru mufflers like the Magnaflow.

BTW, I have dual exhuast (with an H-pipe) on my slant powered Baracuda with 18" long glass paks. It has a nice deep rumble at idle and cruising speeds and may just go past the socially respectable level at WOT, but not by much, it certainly does not get a second look from the local law. Definately quieter than the typical Flowmaster equiped Mustang.

i'm running a regular walker turbo seems to flow fine and sounds a whole lot better than a glass pak and it was less than 25 bucks

yup, it's a single on a 73 swinger with a 2 1/4 inch to the muffler and i think 1 7/8 tail pipe

73 swinger holley 5200, 2 1/4" exhaust .030 over new pistons , cam, .010 under crank. stock everything else. 1/4 mile about a week. 0-60 around 15 sec.

I also run a dynomax superturbo, with clifford dual outlet headers, a 2 1/4" Y pipe, then 2 1/4" everything else. The only thing I don't like about the muffler is that it is crimped together, not welded. As long as your engine doesnt backfire too bad....

I like my new mopar perfomance 6to1 headers with 3" out to a dynomax 6" dia. raceing muffer at the very is a supertrapp 5" disc only it dumps in front of the passenger whee Just retuned it by adding some more disks.Bruce

I know I'll hear it from some about backpressure... but here's what I run....A Mopar header into a 3 inch pipe for about 6 inches, then split into true 3 inch duals with Flowmaster Deltaflows and full 3 inch tailpipes. It sounds great! It has an unbelievable rumble at idle but I can still hear myself think inside the car.
