Post subject:  Stumped on Air cleaner issue

1975 Swinger
Problem: Start car cold and snorkel door opens as it should to help warm up engine. However, I have warmed the car up - driven it for up to 20 minutes and the door does not go back down. /6Dan suggested I point a blow dryer at thermostat (which is new btw) to see if it closes. After about 15 seconds the door shut fine. I am baffled as to why the door won't close when the car warms up.
What I can confirm: Vacuum hoses are hooked up correctly. The lid to my air cleaner has a new gasket in it but I have never felt like the lid sits snug enough. You can take your hand and spin the lid pretty freely. I know the lid and air cleaner go together but I am wondering if anyone knows if the lid should be TIGHT - like really snug? My only guess is that perhaps that looseness of the lid is letting cooler air in and in turn not warming up the inside of the air cleaner. But I would assume that after driving for 20 minutes the overall ambient air would be warm enough. Maybe not. Don't know.
Thanks for any and all responses

The lid should definitely not spin! It's probably causing your issue you describe, and could also be letting unfiltered air into the carburetor. Check and make sure you have the correct air cleaner bail on the carburetor, and replace the lid gasket.

Could also be incorrect air filter or air filter not seated properly (too tall or cockeyed keeping the lid from seating properly).

Is there a round opening under the inlet flapper area with no corrugated hose/tube up to it? If so the tube and perhaps stove on the exhaust are missing.

See about 2/3 of the way down here in an article by some guy named Dan ....

Thanks for the responses! Much appreciated. Here is a quick video of me showing my carb "bail". The second link is an other quick video showing you the exact air cleaner I have. Perhaps my air cleaner is an earlier model not really designed for the 1945. Not sure how to tell things apart. Perhaps you guys can help me nail this down. For the record, I do have the air cleaner gasket under the pie pan.
The funny part is that since I have owned this car my air cleaner has been this ongoing-neverending thing. Ha. I have swapped things out several times. Ugh.
The question I fear the most is if I need to replace the bail, how would I go about getting one? I keep a saved search on Ebay for "holley 1945" and very few things pop up if any.
Anyway, here are the videos...

Definitely the wrong bail. That one is for the '63-'67 "small and tall" air cleaner (about 9" diameter). It will hold the lid up off the top of your air cleaner housing, letting dirty air bypass the filter (and cold air bypass the thermostat). The bail you need is actually much more common. DusterIdiot and Doc alone, between them, probably have several hundred of them. Your air cleaner is a '70-'73 item, but that's fully compatible with your carb once you get the right bail.

Many thanks Dan.
I messaged DusterIdiot. If for some reason he doesn't have one I will message Doc.

I am so thankful for this site and everyone on here.

UPDATE: Thanks for Doc who was able to send me a correct bail. Installed and the snorkel door closes after car warms up now (hooray). Moreover, because I now have a tightly sealed air cleaner, the car ran different. I had to re-do carb settings again. Now she is back to normal.
Again, many thanks to everyone.
