Hi Gang, I finally managed to scrape up enough $ for a rebuilt engine (/6 225). What is a decent price to offer someone for labor to do a complete engine swap? I have my eye on this guy who knows his stuff with /6s so I want to make a decent offer and add a few extra $ for the guys trouble (as it would cut into his weekend/family time). Thanks, Tom p.s. I'd would very much like to learn how to do the swap myself but I have 70-75 hour work weeks until mid-June |

What type of car are we talking about? Any AC, PS or "special stuff"? (like headers) My personal best to swap a Slant engine is 6 hours, that was with a "bone stock" no power anything 66 Dart automatic. Drove up at 9:00, we were test driving the new engine at 3:00. The manifolds and most accessories were already bolted onto the replacement engine. For anything more involved, two full days of work is about right. (16 man hours. So what does you man work for? ($$ per hour) DD |

That would be a 1966 Dart with PS only. 16 hours of labor is out of my price range (8-9 hours and we'd be OK). The good news is the place that rebuilt my engine is willing to keep it at their shop until June. I live in a small urban apartment. Thus, it looks like I get the experience of doing it myself come mid-June. Thanks for the speedy reply. I remember you. I send you a 12 pack a while back. Tom |

I just pulled my motor out, changed cam and head, and had it back in and running in 12 hours without working too hard. |

OK....16 hours is a little "fat", must have been the 12 pak that slowed me down. DD |

You probably weren't stupid enough to pull the motor when you knew you had a points race the following weekend. DD |
