Post subject:  burning coolant

Mostly visible on cold start ups. I just switched to conventional coolant from evans just a few days ago. Has been almost 2.5 years since milled head/new felpro head gasket. Should I try a head bolt retorque first???
Burning coolant did not seem to be an issue before the switch to conventional coolant. :?
thanks for the help!

It seems like one or more cylinders is missing on cold start up....I guess some coolant is seeping into the cylinder/s.....it smoothes out in roughly a minute.....but I definitely know coolant is being burned....
I will check the plugs in hope of finding where the problem is........what aggravates me is that I just installed a Cloyes double roller timing set and the car runs much stronger now.

You ought to see some evidence in a color change on those cylinder's plugs and some crusty particles or deposits; might not be much but it'll be there. A retorque is worth a shot, but not likley to fix it IMO so long after the gasket was installed, unless a head bolt really backed out a lot. (Again not likely.)

Thanks, I know it is wishful thinking but I will inspect the bolts/tightness on tear down....I guess I know what I will be doing on one of my upcoming weekends!

Ok, no leak down or compression test performed but I think I can be pretty confident that I found the problem. One or more of the I/E studs near #6 are leaking and streaking downward on the block. That's my focus now.
