| Post subject: | Governor stuck on distributor shaft . |
I am in the process of putting lighter springs i got of bigslant6fan in my electronic distributor . I have taken the clip out of the top of the shaft but the governor won't budge. I have sprayed Inox in the top of the shaft and let it sit overnight , still no go. I have tried gently levering it up through the side of the dizzy with a screwdriver but didn't want to use to much pressure. The shaft spins freely in the distributor body . Any ideas ? Cheers, Greg |

Lever it with two screwdrivers, one one each side, 180 degrees apart from each. Use both at the same time. Sometimes the governors get stuck. |

There is only one slot on the side of the distributor , so i wouldn't be able to get the screwdrivers at 180 to each other. Do you mean to come in from the top ? Also , i noticed the dizzy shafts moves upwards when i am trying to get the governor off. Will anything underneath the governor be bent by doing this ? |

Yes, over the top lip and tucked under the governor. Nothing should be damaged unless the plastic drive gear breaks. |

If I have a difficult customer, you can leave the shaft in the body and use the body to be the rocker point for your two screw driver levers... Hopefully you used a set of long nose needle nose pliers to pull the spring clip out of the top of the governor. I would soak the shaft in some fresh solvent and see if you get it to move after a night in the dip, sometimes some WD can help too... You do have to be careful while prying, the motion has to pry upward at the same time, if the governor clears the weight pegs and and you are prying with one screw driver you can bend the center post enough that you will be replacing the mainshaft with another one...they aren't easy to get exactly straight once tweaked...(let's say i stock lots of donors and use one's in the cores I send back to Cardone...) |

Listen to DI more than me! He has done this WAY more times than I have and has much better experience and advice than I do. |
