Only 31 days 'til Bristol and I will be gone for about ten of them! The Duster needs plenty of other work to make it to Bristol in time, so.... will I burn up some valves or something if I just try to run the car as is with the cracked exhaust manifold? I don't want to take this thing apart and not be able to get it back together in time for Bristol. I need to replace the gas tank, fuel lines, rear end, and rebuild the front end and do a brake job just to get it running and feel somewhat safe driving it. I'm trying to save a little time, effort and money without being stupid. Anybody want to start a poll to see if I'm gonna make it to Bristol with this thing? My vote changes daily! Thanks, Rob |

Do not worry about that cracked exhaust manifold, in fact, I would be ready to remove the complete exhaust system once you are at the track, a short piece of pipe to direct the "fire" away from the oil pan is all you really need. As for the rest of the system, you don't need the backpressure or extra weight for racing and the open exhaust Slant sounds really cool in Bristol's "Thunder Valley". DD |

Sweet! Thanks Doc. I'll focus my efforts on the the other stuff then. By the way. Is there a special washer/spacer to use in order to mate the aluminim SuperSix to the Hooker headers? The intake flange is much thinker than the header flange. That's for down the road awhile. For now I'm just gonna grab a hack saw and get that exhaust off. Yeehaw! Rob |
