Nope, i'm afraid to say it but you wont get the required amount of oil up to the top, you can go and grab an 80* slant head, it'll bolt right on too

Thought I'd ask those of you in the know before I blew my engine up. I'm putting a Hyper Pak in a 60 Valiant 3 speed stick car. The motor is pretty much together. Stock, low miles 1963 225 short block, late model Mopar perfomance head, hydraulic cam/lifters. I found hydraulic push rods and rockers for the set up in the bone yard, but I'm wondering it the old style short block is set to get the oil where it needs to go for the hydraulics? |

whoops, maybe i miss read your post, but if you already have a Hydraulic lifter head you'll be fine, you just cant use a solid lifer head with a hydraulic lifter cam....  whew.. Justin |

The big difference in the block is the rear cam bearing. The hydraulic motors use one with a full groove in it. Check your cam, I have an Ultradyne hydraulic cam that has a full groove ground in the rear journal itself. Other than the groove, I don't think there is any differences in the block itself.

As long as you can feed more oil to the rocker shaft you will be OK. The grooved raer camshaft journal or the grooved rear cam bearing will do the trick. A hardline can also be used to get more oil "upstairs" but that is way more work to plumb-in. DD |

Thanks for the speedy replies! It looks like I'm OK with the set-up I've got. It is a hydraulic cam and hydraulic lifters and new style (no spark plug tubes) head bolted to a 63 225 short block. I'll keep you all posted... |
