im looking for a good cam choice for a mild street turbo build, im thinking 2.2 turbo pistons, stock valve size, 225 based, ported head, <10 pounds of boost im hoping for 250-300 hp and a nice idle, easy to start, power in the 1000-4000 rpm range i hear comp cams will kill distributor gears, is that true? is there a cure? thanks |

I'd like to know what the more experienced builders think of the Howard 751082-12 Cam for a similar application. That Howard's cam looks darn near perfect to me, for a 225 turbo. I am running a 20 yr old Mopar Perf 0.436" cam and have made as much as 330-340 crank HP on 9.5 psi. Lou |

i had a read of the cam links posted, it seems the stock cam is pretty good as is, how would that howards cam compare? what about the stock cam with 1.6 roller rockers? is a new stock cam set avalible? thanks guys |

Where would you find 1.6 roller rockers? If you did, I'd hate to know what they cost...  My 2 cents: If you find 1.6 rollers, I'd spend my money elsewhere. They would cost you an arm and a leg, which is money you could put towards a good head. I've also heard a stock cam is 'good enough' but my opinion, if you're going to buy a new cam, why go with a stock one that's 'good enough'? Good Luck! |

I don't have a good handle on how much difference that would actually make. It does seem like a good option since it is a readily available off the shelf part.

Good Luck! more than half what i paid for the car what option would be better than stock that wont wreck my distributor, still idle smooth and give me more power or better gas milage? is that howard the improvement i need? i have the later style head and will be porting it, valve job, polishing the chamber, etc, and its not like i have the option of a performance head |
