I have rounded these over a little with a carbide "burr' but never spent the time to try to completely remove them. I do not think it hurts the flow all that much. (flow...what flow?? DD |

| Post subject: | Capping EGR - any helpful hints? |
I have an aluminum intake that I'm about to do the same thing to. Does it make a difference what material I use to cap it? Also what's the recommendation on gasket for sealing? |

Don't see what the difference in material would make, used aluminum to fabricate mine using the EGR block as a guide, its just what I had on hand and is easy to work with, will be using high-temp sealant and reinstall using orginal studs. End of project. Other option is to cut the 4 rivets that retain the EGR to the existing plate and weld any holes closed and re-install, wish I would have thought of that first as I have the capacity to weld. |

I did not use a plate on the outside. Drilled and tapped the hole inside under the carb mount to 1/2" pipe threads, and installed a flush pulg. I staked it in place, cleaned area and filled to top with JB weld. I installed a plug in the exhaust port (where the plate might go) the same way, only less the JB weld. That was 60,000 miles ago, I look down through the carb from time to time, its there to stay. |
