I am about to send a completely stock but worn out 225 off to the engine rebuilder as a core. I recall reading somewhere that the cam blanks being used by aftermarket cam suppliers were of inferior quality.

For cam regrinding purposes, is it worth it to salvage the stock factory cam out of this early 70s motor?

If the fuel pump lobe and oil pump/distributor gear are in good shape I would say, yes.

Yes, please save it if you can. I collect them, and Oregon Cams or a regrinder would be happy to have the core, whether the f pump lobe is OK or not.

OK. I will yank it before I ship the motor off.

All right- I saved the stock Chrysler cam. The fuel pump lobe has about a 1/8 inch groove worn in it, but it looks OK otherwise upon a quick inspection. If the cam is run in a motor with an electric fuel pump the pump lobe is irrelevant anyway. I also saved the lifters and kept track of what lobe each lifter went to so the cam can be installed and run without a break-in period. 8)

I think Oregon repairs the fuel pump loads too

Yes, they did some build up and regrind on one of my cores when I had a couple reground last...it didn't cost much to have the repair done either...
