Post subject:  PHASE 1 - SBP > LBP (7 1/4" Swap)
Removing and replacing 7 1/4" rearend from a 1964 DART GT with a 7 1/4" rearend from a 1975 or 76 Dart. (To get Larger Brakes and LBP)
-This looks like a direct swap. Is it? or is there something I am missing?
I have New U-Bolts, and Wheel Cylinders, but everything about the later rearend is much cleaner and in better shape than the original I am removing.
-Also replacing bushings in Leaf Springs. Anything to look out for here?
The ride height is Good, and I don't want to alter it in any way at this point. I replaced the shocks earlier,so they are fine.
Any pointers or tips would be Appreciated! Thanks Dan.

You'll need to move the parking brake cables to the new axle.

Did you get the smaller diameter wheel cylinders or stock?

A press is real handy for the bushing replacement.

(smaller)13/16" bore (Raybestos WC37696) per SSD

Make sure you have the right u-bolts and shock plates- the lbp axle uses larger wheel bearings and therefore larger tubes/shock plates.

I'm not sure this is true about the LPB 7 1/4 rear. Will have to look at one.
It is true about the 8 3/4 rear.

EDIT: The LBP 7 1/4 rear does use the standard (small) U-bolts and shock mounts. The axle tubes are the same size as the SBP tubes. The tubes get larger, just on the outer ends (outboard of the mounts), to accomodate the larger bearings.

The U-Bolts are the same for both axles I have.
