| Post subject: | Tune Up = Instrument trouble? |
Did a tune up (plugs, wire, cap, rotor, points, etc) on my friend's '64 Valiant. When all was done, his oil light, turn signal dash light, and the temp gauge did not work. They all functioned before the tune up. The gas and alt. gauge continued to work after. The instrument cluster fuse checked out, and all wires appeared to be connected. I know that the gas and temp gauge share components, but what do the oil pressure light, turn signal dash light and the temp gauge share? What am I missing? Thanks. Slantlover |

Check the circuits one at a time, start with the oil pressure light, go to the wire, ground it out and see if the light goes on. If not, change the bulb and test again. Same process with the other guages, it is really strange that a "tune-up" would do this. Where did you pick-up the "hot" to run your test meter & timing light. Did any "sparks fly" during the process? DD |

Dwell meter - hot from low side of coil. No timing light. No sparks. Too much coincidence for all three to go at once. Must have been something I did. Just can't figure out the common denominator. |
