Hello, I have used the Paddock and LMCTruck catalogs for fixing up chevys. But is there a one stop shop where I could find most reproduction parts for a 1962 dodge lancer. Looking for a catalog that would have carpet, correct seat covers, headliner, wiring harnesses, body panels, correct factory under hood decals, etc. These were easy to come by for chevy's, anything out there for early A-bodies polara, lancer, dart? Thanks |

Quote: Hello,
No, there is not. It's going to be many-stop shopping for that car (ask the man who owns one!). I have used the Paddock and LMCTruck catalogs for fixing up chevys. But is there a one stop shop where I could find most reproduction parts for a 1962 dodge lancer. Quote: carpet, headliner
www.stockinteriors.com -- their Lancer listings might still be incomplete; in that case just look under '62 Plymouth Valiant.Quote: correct seat covers
That's going to be various levels of difficult and costly depending on how correct you need them to be. www.smsautofabrics.com will probably have your original materials; you can expect to pay big money and endure unreliable-at-best customer disservice from them. There may be other options depending on which model your Lancer is (170, 770, GT) and what body style (2-door, 4-door or wagon).Quote: wiring harnesses
Not available off the shelf. Evans Wiring can make you a new engine wiring harness, and can incorporate improvements such as main circuit protection, see here.Quote: body panels
Mostly not available. Floor pan repair sections for '60-'66 A-body cars show up on eBay from time to time. Quote: correct factory under hood decals
Not many decals under the hood of a '62 Lancer. The coolant, battery, and air cleaner decals can be had from Gary Goers and a few other vendors. See here.Quote: These were easy to come by for chevy's
Well...yeah. You can almost build a brand new one of any of the popular Chev or Ford models out of catalogues. That is not the case for less-appreciated cars like the '62 Lancer and other early A-bodies.Quote: anything out there for early A-bodies polara, lancer, dart? Thanks
The Polara's not an A-body, and the Dart's not an A-body until the '63 model year.

Does anyone make a replacement gas tank for the 60-62 Valiant/Lancer? |

No such tank. '60-'61 is one tank, '62 is another. They are not available new until someone will send a tank to The Mopar Dude or his vendor to use as a pattern. There has been some discussion of using a '63 tank (available, but very different) in a '62 car; some people say it can't be made to fit well enough and others say it can.

I am currently modifying a 63 dart gt tank to fit my 61 valiant. The main fit issue is the part around the spare tire well. At first glance the filler tube and tank positioning indents look to line up with the 61 body. The tank strap needed to be replaced it was 1 inch or so too short. And I will use a 63 sender so some wiring may need to be adapted. This project still belongs under the category "with enough cutting and welding it can be made to fit". Does a 62 have the round spare tire well like the 63, or the rectangular one like the 61 (and I assume 60)? |

'60-'61 has the square/bathtub spare tire well; '62 is round. |

Does the '63+ Valiant tank fit '62, or even close enough to cobble, or is '62 strictly a one-year tank? |

Right. Not sure how I missed the "available, but very different" note on first reading. Thanks. |

My 62 Valiant has a 63 tank. I had to get the 63 sender, move the fuel lines and wire for the gauge but it slips into place on a 62 just fine and the 62 strap fits the same as well on the 63 tank. Fuel fill pipe fits the same. |

63 tank is 3 gal bigger, and extends further back around and under spare tire well. I put in a second strap farther back to go with the origonal. |

Thank you. I like to have my projects' parts waiting on the shelf when they're needed, and typically plan upgrades at the same time. This sounds a reasonable cobble for upping the volume in addition, when the tank's time comes. May need to re-locate the forward struts on my tow hitch, but that's an easy one. |
