Long shot I know but does anyone here know/able to get me in contact with former Bonneville land speed racer Wilford Day (pretty sure he has passed by now) or one of his relatives in St. George or Cedar City, UT? |

I know this doesn't help, but he was my Neighbor when I lived in Santa Clara UT(RIght next to st George) But that was circa '06. Probably the coolest neighbor I will ever have. He has some weird(Jag?AUstin Heeley??) car with a slant in it. It was awesome. Good luck |

I actually got ahold of him after 6 hours of calling random people in Southern Utah with the last name of Day. I got ahold of one of his relatives and from there it was a matter of 4 more calls until I got him on the line. Probably the coolest neighbor I will ever have. He has some weird(Jag?AUstin Heeley??) car with a slant in it. It was awesome. Good luck He just turned 84 and is doing well. We spent the better part of an hour talking about slant racing history, his cars and the history of the Dragmaster rail that is tied in with his Bonneville car. He mailed me a packet with a bunch of photos and info after we talked. The funny thing is that he lives 10 minutes away from some friends of ours in St. George that we visit every year so the next time I make it down there he told me I need to come over and check out his cars. The car with the slant in it was a Aston Martin (I have pics of it somewhere). The engine he put in it was the engine out of the Dragmaster Dart Six rail, he ended up with it after the Dragmaster team was done with it. The Aston was sold then sold again through a broker. It was sold to the guy who produces and directs the Grammys, Oscars, Superbowl halftime show and a bunch of others. He has a large car collection and sent the Aston back to England to get restored, When I talked to him he said that he bought the Aston without the engine but he knows who has it he just needs to get ahold of the weird broker that he got the car from. Wilford is a great guy with lots of info/history and I really enjoyed talking with him! |

That SL6 coffee table was sold to Mike Hooker, out of Vacaville, CA. Mike recently passed-on so I heard that all his car stuff is being sold-off... You may have a shot at that coffee table after all! DD |
