hi again, we got the dart running pretty good, but when we dropped the tank to clean it out we broke the solder joint on the sending unit, and its leaking, we could probaly just use some fuel resistant sealant of some variety, but we lost the float in the tank and the float arm was covered in varnish, anyway, now to the question, we have been unable to locate a sending unit for under $50, but we have found(online) a sending unit for a "78 chrysler lebaron/plymouth valient/dodge aspen with a slant 6 or v8" its cheap, but not sure it will work, anyone know? thanks! ps, you probaly guessed by the name, but the vehicle with the leak is a 67 dart gt with the 225..... |

Parts for Darts aren't as cheap as they once were. No, a 1978 Volare sender will not work in your '67 Dart. Correct replacement is Chrysler 4051004, suits all '63-'74 A-bodies. It will cost more than $50. |

Personally I would bench test the sending unit... if its working try to recover the floator be creative, then resoder the joint... it's really isn't that hard get some patching soder and a propane Torch Just cook the old soder out and put more back in, just make sure your alignment is correct. you can take it to a radiator shop they will likly fix it for you for a decent price... my Barracuda's sending unit, which will be the same as your dart's, was bad off it had a hole in the float, the coil was busted, the arm was bent arround the fuel line. and I busted the soder. I fixed all of it and the gas gauge works... other than it doesnt read below 1/8tank so an 1/8th is empty... lol gl! |

just pulled the sending unit from my tank. It is very nasty. I saw the unit for the 63. it looks similiar to the unit from my 62. Is it close enough to work? |
