Hello ,
Could somebody please chime in with the answer to this question ?
I am wanting to replace my one barrel intake manifold with a two barrel intake manifold. Can this intake Be used without any Kickdown linkages ?
Will i ruin the trans? Can i use what i have with the Factory Holley linkage?
'72 valiant with 904.
I am still searching for the answer on my own but have not yet found it.
Thank you

Okay,
I just found Reeds' posted article about the suPer six differences, and installation. Now i have some direction with what to look for when shopping for parts. Very informative.

You must use a kickdown linkage or your trans will fail in short order. These days it is cheaper to get a cable-style kickdown linkage from Lokar or Bouchillon (sp?) or some other vendor than to track down a factory setup.

Well thats thank you twice now! When buying a cable from lokar, is it supplied with proper installation instructions?

It should be. I have never bought one personally, so I can't say for sure. THIS is another cheaper cable style kick down option.

I have aLokar kick down I got off of a car I parted out, but I haven't installed it on anything yet. It looked fairly straightforward when I removed it.

Reed,
Thanks again. I am going to turbo this slant. Collecting proper parts, well thought out, should keep me budget friendly. Will it therefore, be ok to piece together the parts to make my super six? Ebay manifold, kickdown cable, blow thru carburetor of my choice?
I am reading, learning, then cautiously going to collect my parts.
Thanks Russ

Absolutely. In fact, if you are planning to do something as non-stock as a turbo setup, then you will definitely be better off using a cable style kick down. The factory kick down really only works with a factory carburetor setup. A cable style kick down will give you much more flexibility in terms of mounting and orienting the carburetor. Plus the cable style will give you more freedom in how you can route the exhaust pipe.
